Last updated 17th September- A phased approach to ease restrictions in England
Birth Registrations are continuing for the time being at Loxley House, Station Street, Nottingham by prior appointment only. You may book an appointment online or over the phone to register your baby and you will be sent the guidelines to follow which include wearing face coverings and bringing your own black pen to sign. Please also bring a bank card to pay for your certificates- we do not accept cash and currently cannot take payment using a mobile phone or Apple Pay. Please also note that unmarried fathers must not attend the Registration alone- if you are not married to each other the baby’s mother must also be in attendance. If you are married then only one person needs to attend.
Weddings and Civil Partnerships continue although numbers of guests attending are still slightly reduced for the time being. Please check with the office or this website as to the number allowed in your ceremony.
The City Council still strongly encourages the use and wearing of Face coverings for the safety of their guests and the Register Office team
Notices of Marriage or Civil Partnership
Notice appointments are continuing to take place at Loxley House, Station Street for the time being. We are booking notice appointments for couples who have their ceremonies booked within the next 4 months only. We request that you contact us around 3-4 months before your wedding date to book an appointment- payment is taken in advance. There will be guidelines to follow such as wearing face coverings.
Death and Still Birth Registrations
From 1st April 2020 registrations for deaths and stillbirths moved to a telephone basis and this process continues during this phased return to usual practice. Your doctor or hospital will send the medical certificate electronically to the registration service, and we will contact you to make a telephone appointment, complete the registration and issue the green form for burial or cremation electronically. We will also supply you with a 'Tell Us Once' reference number to enable you to access this service. After the registration is completed you will be advised how to apply for Death certificates using our online ordering service and these will be posted to you.
If you have received a notification letter from the Home office, we will contact you to arrange a ceremony as soon as possible- please bear with us as we have a large number of successful applicants’ details coming through from the Home Office at this current time. Please wait to be contacted by the Register Office- there can be a few weeks delay before the certificate arrives with the Registrars from the Home Office. Your ceremony will take place at The Council House but unfortunately at this time, we cannot accommodate guests at the ceremony.
